Affiliate disclosure
We may earn a commission if you subscribe to Online-Therapy.com through our links. This page explains that relationship and what we do about the bias it could create.
In short: CBT Guide USA is an affiliate of Online-Therapy.com. If you click one of our links to Online-Therapy.com and then subscribe, we may be paid a commission. You pay the same price either way. Our affiliate links are marked as sponsored.
How the commission works
- We have an affiliate relationship with Online-Therapy.com, a separate company that sells online therapy subscriptions.
- When you click a link labeled for Online-Therapy.com on our site, you go through our redirect at
/go/online-therapy/to Online-Therapy.com. The link carries our affiliate ID so the provider can tell the visit came from us. - If you then subscribe, Online-Therapy.com may pay us a commission.
- Online-Therapy.com is currently the only provider we earn money from, and these commissions are currently our only source of revenue.
Does it change what you pay?
No. The commission is paid by Online-Therapy.com, not by you, and it does not change the price you see at checkout. The 20% first-month discount that Online-Therapy.com lists is its own standard offer, not a special deal from us.
How to recognize affiliate links
- Links to Online-Therapy.com name the provider (for example, "Check plans at Online-Therapy.com") and point to
/go/online-therapy/. - These links carry
rel="sponsored", which tells search engines the link is commercial. - Boxes promoting Online-Therapy.com are labeled "Advertisement".
- Near each recommendation we repeat that we may earn a commission.
Links to research, government sites, crisis services and other organizations are not affiliate links. Our crisis resources page has no commercial links at all.
How it could bias us, and what we do about it
Being paid when readers subscribe gives us a financial reason to present Online-Therapy.com favorably, to recommend more expensive plans, or to leave out options that do not pay us. We take these steps to limit that:
- Limitations are stated. We say plainly that Basic has no live sessions, that there is no direct insurance billing, that the service does not prescribe medication and that it is not a crisis service.
- Real alternatives. We cover lower-cost care, in-network therapists through insurance and free crisis lines, none of which pay us.
- Tools that can say no. The plan chooser can conclude that Online-Therapy.com is probably not the right fit, and the cost calculator shows full multi-month totals, not just the discounted first month.
- No editorial control. Online-Therapy.com does not write, review or approve our content.
- Same criteria. We assess providers using the public criteria on how we evaluate.
- Corrections. If we get something wrong, we fix it and log it on our corrections page.
Our own advertising
We pay for search ads (for example, on Google) so that people looking for information about online therapy can find our guides. Those ads point to our own pages, not directly to Online-Therapy.com. We do not run remarketing or build audiences based on health interests. See our privacy policy.
